Welcome to The University of York Law Society’s website.
With the arrival of the York Law School this Autumn the role of UYLS has slightly adapted to enable us to meet the needs of both our existing non-law members and the new law undergraduates. We aim to offer guidance and support for all our members, whatever their degree discipline, and to help them face the challenges posed by an increasingly competitive world of legal recruitment.
We aim to do this in a number of ways:
- We will build upon our links with top practices and chambers in order to offer our members access to relevant information and advice which will assist them in the application process. This may take the form of skills sessions, mock interviews, dinners at the Inns of Court or firm presentations.
- We will offer opportunities for our members to become involved in Pro Bono work.
- We will work closely with the York Law School, to ensure that our non-law members can benefit from any relevant careers related events. We will also hold sessions specifically designed to provide information about converting to Law and the GDL.
- We will provide our members with social and professional networking opportunities.
We would encourage all Facebook enthusiasts to join our Facebook group, for all the up-to-date information about our news, events and speakers.
